Die Angst vor dem Apple Monopol (Update)

Tim Renner, Chef von Universal Music Deutschland, fürchtet sich offenbar vor Apple:

"Renner warnte zudem vor einer Dominanz des Computerherstellers Apple im digitalisierten Musikgeschäft: Apple sei im Moment ein Quasi-Monopolist.
"Wir brauchen ein breites Spektrum von Absatzmittlern. Ansonsten könnte uns Apple eines Tages sehr unangenehme Konditionen aufdrücken, zumal das Unternehmen dann alle Daten über die Kunden hat."

Vielleicht sollte sich Herr Renner statt merkwürdige Warnungen auszusprechen lieber wieder seinen täglichen anti-monopolistischen Aufgaben widmen:

"Aufruhr in der deutschen Musikbranche: Der Plattenkonzern Universal Music hat sich in einer geheimen Vereinbarung über ein Jahr exklusiv bis zu 50 Plätze in der begehrten Clip-Rotation für «Newcomer» beim Musiksender Viva gesichert, wie das Nachrichtenmagazin «Der Spiegel» berichtete. Sony-Music-Chef Balthasar Schramm nennt die Vereinbarung demnach eine «krasse Wettbewerbsverzerrung», Ex-EMI-Chef Udo Lange halte den Deal für «unmoralisch»." Mehr im DMC Weblog.

Man lässt sich offensichtlich Zeit für das erste große Panther Update. Laut macnews.net.tc ging heute Seed 7D18 an die ADC Mitglieder:

Ärgerlich, der Macromedia Bug scheint immer noch vorhanden:

iPod Spam (Update)

Der iPod als Bauernfänger in einer klassischen Hoax-mail, die gerade in England umzugehen scheint:

"The email claims to be an invoice for a 40GB iPod music player and tells the recipient that their credit card will be debited £399.95. It then directs customers with questions to call a 'customer services' number.

But the number is the general enquiries line for the main police headquarters in Cambridge".

Der Verfasser wurde inzwischen gefasst (wie auch im MontagsMac0rama kurz angemerkt). The Register berichtet unter der schönen Überschrift 'Man arrested in Cambs Police iPod email phone jam scam'.

Es gab übrigens schonmal einen iPod hoax, allerdings nicht in der Spam-mail-Variante. Damals wurde über eine buddhistisches Kloster berichtet, dass angeblich 1000 iPods mit eingraviertem Buddha geordert hätte...

Die gestern schon sanft begonnene Pre-Expo Gerüchteküche geht heute fröhlich weiter. Apple Insider sagt bis zu 2,6 GHz für kommendes Frühjahr vorher:

"According to sources, test yields have shown the revision to clock up to 2.6GHz and come in a variety-pack of 4 flavors: 2GHz, 2.2GHz, 2.4GHz, and 2.6GHz. Additionally, yields of the new 90nm microprocessor have been as successful as those obtained with the 130nm G5 process.
The processors will be ready for delivery to Apple sometime in the month of January, sources said."

Daneben wird es an diesem Wochenende wohl einen neuen Seed von 10.3.2 für die Entwickler geben, so wird das Update noch ein wenig auf sich warten lassen.

Nach massiver Bildberichterstattung über den Apple Store Tokio ist nun unter dem schönen Titel 'The Longest Line' ein Film (44,5 MB .mov, geschlagene 12einhalb Minuten) über den Eröffnungstag aufgetaucht, der sich allerdings zumindest momentan gehörig Zeit beim Laden lässt. Dafür wird nach dem Anschauen klar, wie lange diese Schlange wirklich war.

Apple Online Film Festival 2004

Apple scheint für Anfang nächsten Jahres ein Online Film Festival geplant zu haben:

"Massimei will present a movie called Purgatory. The SDSA calls this: "a short film Marc directed and produced for Apple Computer's pilot run of the online film festival tentatively scheduled to debut internationally in early 2004 at Apple.com."
The presentation will focus on digital filmmaking on a Mac, and screenwriting for low-budget, high-quality movies in High Definition format."

Apple hat es mit dem iPod-iTunes-iTMS Konzept vollkommen berechtigt in die 'Prophet's List of 2003 Branding Hits' geschafft:

Im Forbes CEO Approval Tracker rangiert Steven Paul Jobs seit geraumer Zeit ständig äußerst weit vorne, ganz im Gegensatz zu Schweißtanz-Ballmer, der allerdings auch sinnvolleres mit seiner Zeit anzufangen weiß...
Hier lässt sich direkt über Jobs abstimmen.
