"Music is going to be a huge part of the digital entertainment experience. No one has done it better than Apple. Our contribution is going to be to bring Apple to a wider market, a wider audience and also to make the digital music capability that Apple makes possible work within this broader system. You know the other thing that frustrates consumers? They get all these little gizmos and gadgets, but they don't work together. The HP iPod and iTunes is not just going to be another great gizmo, it's not going to be just another great music player, it's going to fit into this digital entertainment experience for the consumer."

"After a long stint on the sidelines of enterprise and government IT, Apple Computer has gained local traction in the defence sector. The Defence Science and Technology Organisation (DSTO) is showcasing an Xserve cluster to model battle scenarios based on the games of chess and checkers."

"Describing the laptops-for-students program as a success, Baldacci proposed expanding it from all public middle schools to all Maine high schools, starting next year with high school freshmen."
"We will also extend the use of those laptops to their parents," Baldacci said. "The departments of Labor and Education will create worker-training programs that adults can access at home on computers."
Wyke said expanding the laptop program would cost the state an estimated $5 million, probably in the fiscal year starting July 1.'

"First, and still the, ahem, core, is Apple the computer hardware and software company, for more than 20 years at the cutting edge of innovation, the maker of Macintoshes and the creator of some of the most interesting and useful consumer software there is.

The other Apples, more recently ripened, are Apple the enterprise company, moving quietly but steadily into the corporate IT world with its Xserve rack-mounted servers. And thirdly, and by far the most significant, Apple the music company, rising on two stars, the iPod and iTunes Music Store. CEO Steve Jobs's timing and the execution of his ideas by his company have been peerless.

Online, omnipresent, on demand music, and the video equivalents that inevitably will develop in the next two to five years, are obviously of major importance to Apple's future growth. Maybe we will soon have an iVid device to hook to our Macs and play in our home theatres."

Slashdot mit einem Mac OS X Server 10.3 Review, Part 1:

"What is the point of Mac OS X Server? Mac OS X is Unix. I have Apache, bind, sendmail, (and whatever I want) already on here. My Mac OS X box is a server already, right? I have a home network with a half dozen Macs, and have a box that does some serving, and I want it do more. So, I set out to figure out what this Server thing is. (Read on for the rest.)"
