Beachtlich: AirPort Express und AirTunes, Power Macs morgen und OS X Security Patch in Kürze

Gestern erwähnte MacRumors noch 'Wireless is reported to be "big" coming from Apple' und schon wurden heute im Rahmen der D: All Things Digital AirPort Express und AirTunes vorgestellt: "We looked at the most popular place people listen to their music," Jobs reportedly said during his keynote at "D." "The first place is on the computer; Second is the iPod; The third place is in the car -- right now the solutions out there aren't very good but we are working with some folks on that; the next place is in the home." Mal sehen, was da noch fürs Auto gebastelt wird...

AirPort Express
Eine ziemlich geniale Hostentaschen-Airport-Base-Station für bis zu 10 Nutzer (802.11g; es fehlt lediglich der zweite Ethernet Anschluß und das optionale Modem) im i/PowerBook Stromstecker Format, 189 Gramm leicht, inklusive USB Port zum Printer Sharing und Audio Mini Jack (analog und optisch) zum Anschließen der Stereoanlage bzw. Boxen, womit
AirTunes
ins Spiel kommt. Eine mit iTunes 4.6 (kommt im Laufe der Woche, manche munkeln noch am heutigen Abend) eingeführte Technologie, die es ermöglicht über iTunes die an AirPort Express angeschlossen Anlage anzusteuern: "The music is encoded, so it's protected in the air and it uses a lossless compression technology from Apple, so there is no loss of sound quality," said Joswiak."

Soll Mitte Juli auf den Markt kommen, für 149 EUR, natürlich Mac & Windows tauglich; ist momentan allerdings im deutschen Apple Store leider noch nicht gelistet. Damit sollte es für Apple spielend einfach sein, die Dominanz im 802.11g Wi-Fi Markt zu halten bzw. weiter auszubauen.

Außerdem berichtet MacRumors von weiteren Jobs-Worten:
- Ein weiteres Security Update soll wie versprochen diese Woche kommen und die offengebliebenen Sicherheitslücken endlich schließen.
- am 15. wird wohl definitiv der iTMS Europa vorgestellt (welche Länder das auch immer umfassen mag)
und Gerüchteküche:
- viele Quellen sprechen angeblich von einem Power Mac Update schon morgen (immerhin ist ja Dienstag).

Update:
Think Secret, ernstzunehmenster Gerüchtekoch, verspricht für morgen ebenfalls neue Power Macs mit bis zu 2,6GHz: "...but stressed that announcement dates for speed bumps can be subject to change." (Und Grüße von MacOSRumors) "The source also pointed to increased talk in Cupertino about quad G5 models, but emphasized that the news was unconfirmed."

Ebenso bei AppleInsider: "Previous rumors indicate that Apple plans to introduce dual 2.2, 2.4 and 2.6 GHz configurations of the new Power Mac G5s, though AppleInsider is currently unable to positively confirm these plans.[…] According to some of AppleInsider's most reliable sources, Apple is also readying a new line of displays, based on OLED technology, which could be announced alongside the new Power Macs, this week."
