MacOrama für das Prä-WWDC-Keynote Wochenende

Zwei Artikel bei eWeek.com zu IBM und dem PowerPC 970FX.
Der erste dreht sich um die nicht erreichten 3GHz: "IBM's yields are, of course, a secret, and IBM executives declined to divulge specifics. "I don't believe IBM made that prediction publicly," said Jesse Stein, IBM's PowerPC marketing programs manager, of the 3GHz prediction actually made by Jobs."
Der zweite weist in Richtung PowerBook G5: "Norman Rohrer, chief designer of the PowerPC 970FX chip used in Apple's Power Mac G5 desktops and Xserve servers, said the same chip that IBM uses for its desktop machines can also be used comfortably within future PowerBook notebooks through a power-management technique called "PowerTune." Rohrer would not comment on the time frame for a chip incorporating PowerTune. Industry insiders said a PPC 970FX-based notebook is not expected to ship before the end of the year. At the same time, a small-form-factor iMac would require a similar thermally managed processor. Reports recently circulated that Apple will introduce a G5-based iMac at WWDC in San Francisco."

Wer auf die Public Beta von NetNewsWire 2 wartet, wird sich wohl noch etwas gedulden müssen: "We had hoped to ship NetNewsWire 2.0 before WWDC—or at least have a public beta released. But, well, I was optimistic. It looks like it will have to wait until July", schreibt Brent in seinem Blog.

Ordentlich abgeräumt: "Apple today took home two Gold, one Silver, and one Bronze award in the 2004 Industrial Design Excellence Awards (IDEA)[…] Apple's Power Mac G5 ('Computer Equipment') and iPod mini ('Consumer Product') were Gold winners, while the iSight took a 'Silver' award ('Business & Industrial Products'), and the Apple Wireless Keyboard won a 'Bronze" ('Computer Equipment')." Bei MacNN.

Nichts neues: "Certainly, the IT media's indifference to Apple has hurt the company's standing with CIOs. But Apple's obsession with secrecy has diminished it and IT's technology options even more." In der Macworld UK.

Der indische Apple Chef hat gekündigt berichtet The Times Of India. Auch in Indien hat Apple nur 2% Marktanteil, trotz seiner Celebrity Fans wie z.B. Lucky Ali.

Und auch heute gibt es natürlich wieder einen frischen skurrilen Fehler.
