MacOrama für den 02. Juli 2004

Since Tiger’s hook is pervasive searching, Apple has also added a bookmarks search to Safari, accessible from the bottom of the Bookmarks manager. Users may search page titles, URLs, domain names or any other information saved within their bookmarks. Sources also noted that Bookmark search is capable of searching a user's recent history, though Apple makes no mention of this potentially handy feature."

(via IT&W)

Die iPod Kampagne konnte in Cannes einen Media Lion mitnehmen: "Communication Goals: Establish iPod as the MP3 player for our core target audience of young adults, finding the optimum balance between building broad awareness with the 'early mass' whilst maintaining the 'cool factor' amongst early adopters of digital music."

"Just returned from my brother's wedding where the Groom's cake was none other than an iPod mini."

"Apple was No. 10 in the 'Technology Hardware & Equipment' category in BusinessWeek's latest Top 50 company rankings, but placed 207th overall in the rankings. Apple had a 59.4% one-year return on stock price, placing it in the overall top 10 S&P 500 companies as ranked by earnings, however, its 3-year return was lower at 31.1%. Averages for the industry were growth of 102.7% (one-year) and loss of 17.6% (3-year)." Bei MacNN.

iPartition — Intelligent Partitioning for Mac OS X: "With iPartition, resizing a partition is as simple as selecting it, grabbing the resize handle and dragging. Not only that, but if you have several operations to perform, iPartition lets you queue them up and run them one after another, so you can have a cup of coffee whilst iPartition works. This feature, coupled with iPartition’s ability to automatically rearrange your existing partitions when asked to expand a partition, makes iPartition the easiest disk partitioning tool that you’ll ever use."

iPodlounge.com wirft einen Blick auf die verzweifelten Versuche der iPod Konkurrenz: "Though this article may seem partisan, we're certainly not closed-minded to the possibility that something could come along and really blow away the iPod. At the moment, however, we can't help but be surprised that such major competitors have been embarrassing themselves with cheap knockoffs, weak promotions, and scatterbrained product designs."

"The EAGLE Layout Editor is an easy to use, yet powerful tool for designing printed circuit boards (PCBs)." Für das Fachpublikum nun in einer OS X Beta. (via Nico per mail)
--

"However, in a part of the Tiger/Unix section called “More Power to Power-Users,” Apple says, “The upgraded kernel, based on FreeBSD 5.x, provides optimized resource locking for better scalability across multiple processors.” Multiple processors? A hint of things to come in 2005? Perhaps a Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) Server?" schreibt Dennis Sellers bei Macsimum Perspective, da kommen sie wieder die Quad-G-irgendwas-Gerüchte.

Außerdem (Halb-)Wissenswertes aus dem Terminal - heute:
