Paul Thurrott listet sieben Neuigkeiten des DVD Player 4.5 in Tiger: "A new Bookmarks window--which is not translucent--allows you to create Bookmarks, similar to those in Safari, at your favorite moments in any DVD. You can name the Bookmarks, and then click on them in the Bookmarks window to later return to that point in the movie."

Update: "EFF appealed the trial court decision which held that if a journalist publishes information a business deems to be a trade secret, this act destroys constitutional protection for the journalist's confidential sources and unpublished materials. EFF awaits word from the California Appellate Court as to whether the appeal will be granted." Die EFF Reaktion ist in einem 120 KB PDF nachlesbar. Zuletzt hatte der zuständige Richter in Apples Sinne entschieden, die EFF hatte ihren Einspruch bereits angekündigt.

Weitergehende Seitenhiebe zwischen MS und Apple, diesmal in der Newsweek: "But Apple's is here now, and Jobs sees it as indicative of Apple's agility and drive. "Microsoft has followed our taillights for a long time," he says. "Maybe [in the '90s] we stopped innovating for a while, but now they've been copying OS X the same way they copied Mac." MS-Mann Allchin bezeichnet im Gegenzug Tiger als "a peripheral to the iPod."

ecto wird in Version 2.3 Tiger-fit und bringt neben einer GUI-Überarbeitung und der Einbindung von Technorati Tags weitere Neuigkeiten: "When refreshing a list of entries, ecto checks for locally modified copies and asks for confirmation before overwriting them; drawers for the entries list window and the draft windows are now embedded in the window; status messages are now displayed in the entries list window. The activity window itself is optional; the custom HTML tag editor sports a preview." Wer ecto bislang noch nicht in Betrieb hatte, kann nun 21 (statt 14) Tage lang damit wüst herumprobieren.
