Kommt ein Firmware Update für den iPod? [Update_4]

Möglicherweise kommt heute noch ein Firmware Update für (hoffentlich sämtliche) iPods. Michael Gartenberg schreibt nämlich: "Apple also tweaked the firmware in all the iPod so there's no a separate podcasting category, which means podcasts won't get shuffled with my music and will support bookmarks so I can listen to podcasts and resume where I left off." Und während tatsächlich nach entsprechender Einstellung in den iTunes iPod Preferences die entsprechende Podcast Wiedergabeliste erscheint und auf den iPod übertragen wird, funktionierte im Schnelltest das Weiterhören an der pausierten Stelle keineswegs. Zudem ist der iPod shuffle wie bereits erwähnt komplett aussen vorgelassen und kann lediglich manuell beschaufelt werden.
Update: Ja, es kommt ein Firmwarupdate, allerdings wohl nicht für den iPod shuffle: "The new Podcast menu is available starting today via a free iPod software update for all Click Wheel iPods and iPod minis from www.apple.com/ipod", so Apple in seiner Pressemeldung.
Update_2: Jetzt verfügbar: "Integration with iTunes 4.9 for downloading and listening to podcasts", neu im iPod Updater 2005-06-26, der iPod Software 1.2 für iPods mit Farbdisplay, iPod Software 3.1 für iPods mit Click Wheel und iPod Software 1.4 für den iPod mini enthält. Auch als knapper 30MB Download über die Softwareaktualisierung.
Update_3: Der iPod mini mit 1.4 hat die Podcast-Liste jetzt im Musik-Menü untergebracht und die Bookmarks klappen auch einwandfrei.
Update_4: Nur um das nochmal zu unterstreichen: Mit dem Update der iPod Software werden auch stinknormale MP3s bookmark-tauglich. Podcast am Mac beginnen, pausieren auf den iPod befördern (lassen) und dort punktgenau weiterhören funktioniert sorgenfrei.
