MacOrama für den 30. Juni 2005

I think Apple decided…that they wanted to focus more on their software investments and that they wanted to leverage the Intel roadmap end-to-end," he said. "More of the focus was around portables. Intel continues to drive a large client portable-based business. As best as I can tell, that's how Apple made that conclusion."

Die Business Week macht sich Gedanken zu Cingulars Interessenlage beim iTunes phone: "By hooking up with Apple, the carrier might take a far lower share of the revenue of each song -- but make more money. That's because it wouldn't incur its own costs to run a service -- and it would benefit from Apple's marketing might to drive demand. Indeed, Watts estimates Cingular could see its average revenue per user rise 1% to 2% through such a deal. And many iPod owners could decide to switch to Cingular for their cellular needs."

CSFB erwartet mit unfassbarem analytischem Weitblick ein "iPod shuffle capacity and functionality refresh later this summer or early fall." CSFB also sees Apple increasing its iPod mini capacities "throughout the year." Und T3 ("the world's best gadget magazine"-haha) hat einen Super-Insider zu bieten: "According to our lead both the 2GB and 4GB shuffles are definitely set for release. As is a new 8GB iPod mini – Apple is allegedly planning to keep the 6GB version and ditch the 4GB with this addition to the mini family." Gute Nacht.

Can I play photo or video podcasts in iTunes?
In iTunes 4.9 and later, if a photo is properly embedded in an audio podcast file by the podcaster, it should display in the same window where album art and QuickTime video content currently displays. Similarly, if a video is properly referenced and in a supported format (MP4, MOV, MPG), it will also display in this window. PDF files that are properly referenced in a podcast will also display in this window."

Playlist hat etliche (fast nur positive) Äußerungen zu iTunes 4.9 zusammengestellt: “We saw a fifty percent jump in the overall podcasting audience, looking across the top 200 podcasts managed by FeedBurner,” said the company’s vice president Rick Klau. “In its first 24 hours of availability, iTunes now has a forty percent market share across those same podcasts, making it the most popular podcasting client.”
