Apple veröffentlicht Mac OS X 10.4.2 [Update]

10.4.2 findet sich endlich in der Softwareaktualisierung (21,5 MB bei mir) oder bei apple.com (Delta Update, 44MB oder die Combo Variante mit 58MB). Es bringt hauptsächlich folgende Neuerungen mit:
• file sharing using AFP and SMB/CIFS network file services
• single sign-on authentication and reliable access to Active Directory servers
• autologin for managed user accounts
• AirPort and wireless access
• Core Graphics, Core Audio, Core Image, including updated ATI and NVIDIA graphics drivers
• Finder updates including finding on Kind and using Slideshow
• synchronizing your iDisk with .Mac
• installation reliability
• managing Dashboard widgets
• Address Book, Automator, iCal, iChat, Mail, Safari, and Stickies applications
• compatibility with third party applications and devices
Details finden sich in der KnowledgeBase. Zwei Sicherheitslücken wurden ebenfalls behoben. Erfahrungsberichte sind auch hier natürlich wieder herzlichst willkommen.
Ebenfalls Updates gibt es für die Pro-Apps, so sie denn installiert sind: Pro Application Update 2005-01 mit 2,2 MB, Final Cut Pro 5.0.2 (14,6 MB), Soundtrack Pro 1.0.1 (25,8 MB), LiveType 2.0.2 (3,6 MB) und Cinema Tools 3.0.2 (19,6 MB).
Update: Einige Anmerkungen: Saft 8.0.2 funktioniert ganz und gar nicht mehr mit Safari 2.0 (412.2), am empfehlenswertesten ist eine Entfernung aus /Library/InputManagers vor dem ersten Safari-Start nach 10.4.2 Update.
Die 'schönste' Fehlerkorrektur ist zweifellos diese: "Orange iCal calendars, with alarms that go off while iCal is not open, no longer change color after the alarm is snoozed."
Otto, der Automator wurde still und heimlich auf 1.0.1 gebracht. Bugfixes finden sich bei Automator World.
