Piper Jaffray Analyst Munster erwartet keinen iPod Video in den kommenden 12 Monaten: “Based on comments from the company regarding the portable media center market and the current lack of significant consumer interest for feature film downloading, we believe Apple will wait at least 12 months—until the market is ready for such a product.” ilounge.

Wie erwartet eröffnete Apple den japanischen Ableger des iTMS in den frühen Morgenstunden: "With one million songs priced at just ¥150 and ¥200 per song, plus Apple’s legendary ease of use and pioneering features such as built-in support for Podcasting, the iTunes Music Store in Japan is the best way for Mac and PC users to legally discover, purchase and download music online", so Apple in seiner Pressemeldung. Erstmals wird das einheitliche Preisschema durchbrochen, so sollen rund 90% der Titel umgerechnet ca. 1,10 EUR kosten, 10% allerdings ca. 1,50 EUR. Damit liegt man jedenfalls unter der japanischen Konkurrenz, die unterschiedlichen Preise lassen allerdings nichts Gutes erwarten. Zusätzlich wurde die Zusammenarbeit bei der iPod-Integration in Nissan, Mazda und Daihatsu-Modelle bekanntgegeben. Japan ist und bleibt ein schwächelnder Markt für Macs und selbst dem iPod shuffle konnte Sony unlängst mit klarem Heimvorteil die Marktführerschaft streitig machen.

"Earlier reports circulating around the Internet concerning Apple's inclusion of a Trusted Platform Module (TPM) chip in Intel-based Macs were incorrect, OfB has learned.[...] Commenting on earlier reports, a reliable source who requested anonymity told OfB, “While many rumors are being circulated on the web about Apple's future direction on Intel processors with DRM, the majority of them are just that - rumors.” The source, a registered Apple developer, continued, “Reality is that these boxes are production PC's in an Apple case, not DRM or TCPA protected, and none of these boxes will remain in circulation after their purpose has been served - they must be returned to Apple."
