Tabs umsortieren in Safari

Safari fehlen bislang zwei Dinge, auf die zumindest ich keinesfalls verzichten kann: Ein Absturzschutz, der gerade geöffnete Fenster und Tabs automatisch speichert und wieder öffnet, sowie die Möglichkeit bereits geöffnete Tabs nach Lust und Laune umzusortieren. Saft brachte mich einst mit genau diesem Absturzschutz von OmniWeb zu Safari zurück und legt in Version 7.7.0 nach: Nun lassen sich tatsächlich auch in Safari die Tabs nach eigenen Vorstellungen anordnen (Filmchen gibts hier). Grandios (und kein April-Scherz).

MacOrama für den 31. März 2005

Mac Rumors, Seite 2, eingeschickte Wunschliste eines 'detailed tipster': "The ambitious report claims that the new machines will include the rumored 970MP starting at 2GHz, alongside 2.5GHz and 3.0GHz models. The first Blu-ray drives (Apple adopts Blu-Ray) are expected to make their debut in the top-end model. Under the hood support for Hypertransport 2.0, PCI-Express, and a new Audio IC is reported. Memory support will be boosted to 32GB of RAM in the high end models with availability of 4GB DDR modules." Zudem soll ein HD PowerBook auf der NAB vorgestellt werden. Power Macs sind jedenfalls überfälligst und die Screenshots aus dem PowerBook Handbuch waren auch nicht allzu unglaubwürdig, man darf also durchaus gespannt sein, ob Apple die NAB dieses Jahr zu mehr als reiner Softwarevorstellung nutzt.
Daneben berichtet AI von kommenden frischen iMacs mit 1,8-2GHz Prozessoren, vielleicht einem iMac HD Modell, einem "neuen" eMac und iBook-Kosmetik: "Sources say Apple will boost the 12-inch iBook from a 1.2GHz to 1.33GHz G4 processor, while the 14-inch models will likely obtain a 1.5GHz processor. Both models are also expected to adopt an improved ATI Mobility Radeon graphics processor."

HP verkauft lediglich, dass in die Monate gekommene 20 und 40GB Monochrom-Modell, der iPod photo wurde vage angekündigt und steht bislang, insofern stellt sich Forbes die Frage, was aus dem 'Apple iPod from HP' werden soll: "HP declined to comment for this article, saying that iPod-related news may be forthcoming in the next few months."

Ein iPod Dock im Mac mini ist bisher leider Gerücht/Vermutung geblieben, dafür integrierte HP eins in seine neuen Media Center, die rein farblich sanft an Apple Produkte erinnern: "We got a very warm reception for this" from customers who previewed the design, he said. "We didn't do it because Apple did it. We did it because our customers told us that they liked it." Sure.
Genaugenommen ist das iPod Dock nicht wirklich integriert wie aus einem weiteren CNET Artikel hervorgeht: "The computer doesn't have a dock itself, but rather features a molded piece of plastic that fits around Apple's own dock to allow the device to gracefully dock atop the PC." Im weiteren Verlauf werden außerdem neue hp+iPods versprochen: "But new HP-branded iPods are on the way and should be announced in the coming weeks, said Siobhan O'Connor, HP's vice president of consumer brand and marketing. "Expect us to have, like we did with the original products, a very similar lineup to what Apple has," O'Connor told CNET News.com."

"The OS is good at keeping out attacks, and Apple has a good patching system. What I would be concerned about is directed attacks or maybe spyware."

MGM vs. Grokster: "Supreme Court justices questioned on Tuesday whether the recording industry's attempts to shut down online file-sharing networks would deter inventors from developing new products like Apple's iPod music player." schreibt Reuters. Pymusique ermöglicht -trotz Apples Gegenmaßnahmen- nach wie vor DRM-freie Musik aus dem iTMS herunterzuladen. Einer der Autoren bietet Apple eine Zusammenarbeit an, wie Forbes nun schreibt: "This is why Brocious is offering up PyMusique and his coding services to Apple. He says he wants to work with Apple's blessing to create a Linux-friendly iTunes program, built in such a way that open-source devotees would embrace it. "The solution is to work with us, not against us," Brocious says."

Sony muss möglicherweise seinen PS 2 Verkauf in den USA stoppen, sowie 90 Millionen Dollar an Schüttelexperten Immersion zahlen, die eine entsprechende Patentklage gewonnen hatten. "The order is on hold, pending an appea." Immersion hatte sich 2003 in einer ähnlichen Klage bezüglich der Xbox bereits mit Microsoft geeinigt. Ein paar Details zum neuen Promoinstrument der iTunes Custom Cards: "Apple handles the design, printing, and shipping of the cards and funded the cards for the Grammy and South By Southwest releases. According to Chris Bell, Apple’s Director of iTunes Product Marketing, Apple continues to fund the cards during a special introductory period and is working on promo-only programs similar to its South By Southwest efforts. Bell says that turnaround time on the cards is variable, depending on promotion, artwork, and content, but adds that small runs of cards can be turned around relatively quickly," schreibt Playlist.
