XP auf dem iMac - Video [Update_3]

Nach flickr-Bildern und einer vollkommen lahmgelegten Wettbewerbsseite zu 'XP auf dem Mac', hat narf2006 nun ein Video veröffentlicht, das beinahe sämtliche Zweifel ausräumen dürfte - nur die Anleitung fehlt eben noch. Vorsicht: Der Bootscreen bereitet Schmerzen. Video nach dem Klick.

Update: Die von narf eingereichte Lösung wird momentan fleissig auf Intel-iMac, Mac mini und MacBook Pro getestet. Derweil erzählt ein weiterer Wettbewerbsteilnehmer seine "Geschichte eines Zweitplatzierten": «While I’m disappointed not to have won, I’m encouraged to see that our approaches were remarkably similar. We both wrote custom EFI CSM drivers to emulate the BIOS functions Windows requires to boot. I’m very curious how they managed to get VGA working, and I won’t be surprised if it doesn’t work in either the Mini or the Macbook Pro, as it looks like they did all their development on an iMac.» (via digg)
Update_2: Der Wettbewerb wurde für beendet erklärt. «The solution is confirmed working on the 17in iMac and the MacBook Pro. It needs to be tweaked for the Mac Mini, and the 20in iMac. Once these tweaks are done then it will be released.» onmac-Forum.
Update_3: «It only boots XP SP 2, no Vista, no SP 1, no Server, etc. It works on the three intel Macs that are currently available, with the exception of the 20" iMac, but that should be fixed by the time the download is available. Unfortunately, native drivers don't work for the graphics card, so the display is pretty choppy. There is no chance you could play a game using this solution, aside from minesweeper. It looks like a fix for this may be a ways off yet. There are drivers floating around for WiFi, ethernet and audio. The remote and iSight don't seem to work, yet. The solution seems to be developed in-house by "narf" and "blanka". I don't believe they had much (if any) outside help. They say they'll open source it, which is great news. The few short-comings their solution has will quickly be fixed by the large open source community!» Nakfull Propaganda.
