Apples jährliches Aktionärstreffen hangelte sich dieses Jahr erstrangig an der zweifelhaften Vergabe von Aktienoptionen und Apples Umweltbemühungen entlang. Kritik prallte in diesem Zusammenhang komplett an Jobs ab, der darauf verwies, dass die SEC selbst Apples gute Zusammenarbeit bei der Aufklärung gelobt und keine weiteren Schritte gegen die Firma ankündigt hat. «Unless you think there's a conspiracy theory involving the SEC too, I don't know what else to say». Zu den Seitenhieben von Fred Anderson sagte Jobs: «I’ve worked with Fred for many years and I think he’s an awfully good guy, but I thought his comments were a little wrong.» Über sein formales Gehalt von $1 pro Jahr scherzte der Apple-Chef schließlich: «It’s a pretty simple meeting when it comes to me. I get 50 cents a year just for showing up, and the other 50 cents is based on my performance» (Forbes hatte vor ein paar Tagen eine Geschichte losgetreten, nach der Jobs Kompensation 2006 knapp $650 Millionen betrug, ließ dabei aber bequem unter den Tisch fallen, dass dieser Betrag den kompletten Zeitraum seit Jobs Wiederkehr 1997 abdeckte).
Auch zu Greenpeace, die mit zwei Leuten vertreten waren und Apples offenere Umweltkommunikation lobten, fand Jobs klare Worte: «You guys rate people based on what people say their plans are in the distant future, not what they are doing today. I think you put way too much weight on these glorified principles and way too little weight on science and engineering. It would be very helpful if your organization hired a few more engineers and actually entered into dialog with companies to find out what they are really doing and not just listen to all the flowery language when in reality most of them aren’t doing anything.»
