Mac-Spyware?

Eine Leseranfrage, gepostet in Mike Wendlands Blog, hat mich nachhaltig verwundert:
"I recently found out that I have two spyware programs running on my Mac (.FBCInded and DS_Store) and I can not find any way to remove them. I've done numerous searches to no avail. Do you know of a way to get rid of these programs?"
Zum Glück kommt direkt in den Kommentaren die Antwort:
"Those aren't spyware. FBC has to do with the Mac OS 9 extension FBC Index Scheduler. .DS_Store files are on every Mac I have and are part of Mac OS X. This file is created by the Finder to keep track of folder view options, icon positions, and other visual information about folders. A separate .DS_Store file is created in each directory to store information about that directory, so you'll find them appearing all over the directory tree, in pretty much every folder you've visited with the OS X Finder."

Wer wirklich Angst vor Spyware unter OS X hat (mir persönlich ist dazu kein Fall bekannt, ich lasse mich aber gerne eines besseren belehren), der könnte LittleSnitch ausprobieren, damit werden alle ausgehenden Netzwerk Verbindungen komplett überwacht, klar die bessere Alternative zum unbedarften Löschen von vielleicht wichtigen aber einem selbst in ihrem Zweck unklaren Systemdateien.

Safari auf RSS-Jagd

Eine interessante Idee findet sich im Blog des Watson Entwicklers:
Safari würde eigenständig den RSS-Feed einer Seite erkennen, entsprechend anzeigen und dieser könnte dann direkt per Drag&Drop in z.B. NNW übernommen werden. Andererseits bietet NNW mit dem Services Menu "Subscribe in NetNewsWire" (1,4MB demo.mov) schon eine sehr praktische und simple Feed-Abonnier-Variante.

Die Macworld New York zieht jetzt endgültig nächstes Jahr nach Boston und Apple zieht nach wie vor nicht mit. Dafür gibt es nach wie vor die jannuarliche/jannuärlich Macworld San Francisco.

Apple scheint nun so ziemlich alle Verweise auf Virtual PC von seinen Switch Seiten getilgt zu haben vermeldet macdailynews.

Die US Computer and Communications Industry Association (CCIA) wünscht sich eine Abkehr der Microsoft-Marschrichtung des US Department of Homeland Security:
"Design flaws in Microsoft's products have recently been responsible for temporary closure of Maryland's Department of Motor Vehicles offices, failure of the passenger check-in system at Air Canada, an intrusion on the Navy-Marine intranet, and cancellations and suspensions of service on the CSX railroad. Bei den macguardians wird die beständige Frage nach der Lautstärke der G5 PowerMacs beantwortet und von ersten Tests der NASA mit dem neuen IBM-Compiler berichtet.

macnews und macmotion melden eine 300EUR Preissenkung bei den 17" PowerBooks in D/A/CH, jetzt wird es wirklich langsam mal mehr als Zeit für die Nachfolgemodelle.

Und Bloggende Switcher lese ich natürlich besonders gerne.
